PEPPERMINT BRISTLENOSE CATFISH 4CM A very attractive algae eating catfish, black with star-like white spots.  Young fish also have white edged fins.  Unfortunately not as easy to breed as the standard Bristlenose, some aquarists have had success breeding this species in discus type conditions (soft, slightly acidic water at 28-30 C).  Females also develop bristles, grows to 10-12cm.

EMERALD CATFISH (BROCHIS SPLENDENS) 3CM Brochis species differ to Corydoras by having a larger number of fin rays (10-17) in the dorsal fin compared to Corydoras (6-8).  Brochis also grow larger than Corydoras.  All Brochis have an emerald green colouration.  This is the most commonly available of the Brochis, as it is the only species that breeds readily in aquaria.  Juvenile specimens (<3cm) have copper coloured fins and a sail like dorsal fin.  Grows to about 7cm.

CORYDORUS BARBATUS 3CM The Barbatus is a large impressive looking Corydoras, growing to 10-12cm.  One of the few Corydoras with obvious sexual dimorphism, females are mottled brown, whereas males are black with gold markings on the front half of their body.  Native to southern Brazil, they readily adjust to slightly lower temperatures and have been known to breed at 19-21 C.

CORYDORAS JULII - LEOPARD CORY 3CM Also known as the Leopard Catfish, the Corydoras Julii is native to Peru, Brazil and Ecuador.  They grow to a maximum size of about 6 cm and behave similarly to the more familiar Bronze, Albino and Pepper corydoras.  Stock supplied to Australia is both bred in captivity and wild caught.
