Pom Pom goldfish are yet another example of the amazing variations created by the selective breeding of goldfish. These fish have two fluffy-looking ball-like appendages on the top of the head between the eyes (the appendages are also know as nariel bouquets).
The appendages increase in size as the fish matures, young fish may barely have discernible pom poms whereas older fish can have very impressively sized pom poms.
These fish tend to be mainly chocolate or red in colour (or a mixture of the two), and often can have pom poms that are differently coloured to the fish's body. The majority of Pom Pom goldfish have dorsal fins as these are more popular, but other variations also exist such as the Pom Pom Celestial Eye.
These fish are well suited to unheated aquariums and bowls, and can also be kept outdoors (but provide protection from predators such as cats or birds).
Pom Poms are not fussy about water conditions or diet, and are quite easy to care for. Like all goldfish, they are quite peaceful.
