The Wakin is a slender bodied Japanese goldfish variety ideal for both indoor and outdoor situations.  They have a body shape similar to the common goldfish, but with a short double tail and a double anal fin.  Wakins usually develop quite intense red colouration, red and white coloured fish are also very attractive.

Several other colour forms are also occasionally available.

Wakin are well suited to unheated aquariums and bowls, and with a very active manner, they make an excellent pond fish.  They are not fussy about water conditions or diet, and are quite easy to care for.  Like all goldfish, they are quite peaceful.
