Current Category Goldfish > Ranchu
One of several goldfish types without a dorsal fin, Ranchu are solid bodied fish with a broad head. As they grow, Ranchu develop an impressive head growth that encompasses the entire head, sometimes even obscuring the fish's eyes. Developed in Japan, this variety is very popular in many countries and now occurs in a number of colour forms.
They are well suited to unheated aquariums and bowls, and can also be kept outdoors (provide protection from predators such as cats or birds).
Ranchu are not fussy about water conditions or diet, and are quite easy to care for.
Like all goldfish, they are quite peaceful.
