Current Category Goldfish > Celestial Eye
One of several rather bizarre looking Goldfish varieties, Celestial Eyes are notable for their protruding eyes fixed gazing skywards. They also do not have a dorsal fin, have a paired tail fin and are predominantly orange to red in colour.
Celestial Eyes are best kept indoors in an unheated aquarium or bowl, with other slower moving goldfish varieties. With their highly developed form, they can have difficulty competing for food when housed with quick moving fish such as Comets. Celestial Eyes are not particularly fussy about water conditions or diet, and are easy to care for.
This variety was first developed in China, possibly circa 1900. (A rarer version with a dorsal fin has also been produced in China.)
